Testing
Thanks to all the families who brought snacks for our testing weeks! We are almost done. We have one more test day tomorrow (Science). Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast. Also please make sure to be on time tomorrow. For those students who need make-up testing, this will also happen this week.
Short Story Project
We wrapped up our stories last week, and Mr. Carter is working on getting them published through Create Space. Students have shown a lot of growth in their writing in the past few months, and this was evident in their writing during the testing this week. We look forward to sharing these with you at Exhibition on June 7th.
Math Project and Homework
This week and next week, we are working on math projects rather than our regular math station work. Please note that homework might look different, in that it is not a packet. Students should continue to do their Khan Academy and ST Math minutes online (20 minutes each), and to read daily.
Fidget Spinners
Just a couple of news articles on these toys:
NPR
Newsweek
As a reminder, these toys should not be brought to school, or to aftercare.
Field Day
Field Day is June 9th! We need parent volunteers to help out. Please contact Coach Cribbs.
New Family Picnic
We are looking for 4th and 5th grade students to attend the New Family Picnic on Tuesday, June 13th from 5:30-7. This would be an opportunity for them to welcome new students and families to our school, and answer questions from these families from a student's perspective. You, of course, are welcome too. The more people we have to make these these new families feel a part of our community, the better! If your child is able to attend, please let us know.
Fifth Grade Events and Graduation
See the letter in the file below for information regarding upcoming events. We are asking for a $20 donation to cover student costs for the events like 5th grade dance and the end of the year party. If you would like to add adult meals for the end of the year party (catered by Banyan Catering), you'll need to fill out the attached form and bring in the money for to cover adult meals.
