Dear Room 14 Families,
Happy (almost) first day of school! It’s going to be an amazing year of learning and growing together in Room 14! We are so happy to have our class together again, and to be welcoming two new friends, Jesreel and Ivonne! Mr. Carter is excited to get to know each and every one of our amazing students.
We wanted to give you some information about this year. Feel free to ask any questions!
BEFORE CARE, DROP-OFF, and PICK UP
We are trying a new Exploratory schedule this year, and students will have one of our Exploratory classes 4 times a week for one hour. We will also have Library once a week on Wednesdays, and Music once a week (which will both start after the first week).

The Constitution of the State of California requires that schools provide a public education to you free of charge. With only a few exceptions, your right to a free and appropriate education means that schools cannot require families to purchase materials, supplies, or equipment for any school activity. Many families ask us if they can make voluntary contributions of instructional materials, so I send along the following list in case you would like to do so. If you choose to make a voluntary donation, then thank you, and if not, then I will provide these instructional supplies for your child. If you would like to donate instructional materials in addition to this list, then please feel free to do so.

BEFORE CARE, DROP-OFF, and PICK UP
- Before care is offered from 7:30 to 8:55. You will need to check your child in at the gate.
- From 8:30 to 8:55 Coach will lead an all school fitness activity, Wake Up, Shake Up. All students who are present at that time will participate.
- Teachers will meet students and families on the blacktop at 9am. If you arrive later than 9am you can enter school through the main doors.
- Please pack your child a healthy snack and lunch so that they have energy throughout the day. Also, our school is working hard at being green, so reusable packaging is encouraged.
- If your child is here very early, you may want to pack an extra snack to have at 8:20, before starting Wake Up, Shake Up.
- Snacks will be eaten during recess from 11:20-11:40.
- Lunch will be eaten from 12:40-1:20.
- Pick up time is between 3:40 and 3:45 outside of the classroom. After 3:45 ALL students will be walked to aftercare. When you pick up from aftercare, please sign out, even if your child has only been there for 5 minutes. You will only be charged if you pick up after 3:55.
- On our short day, Wednesdays, lunch is from 12:30-12:45, and aftercare begins at 12:45.
